AIGLX + ATI + X.org 6.8 x 7.1.1.1

Zdravim. Po dvoudenim snazeni jsem se konecne s instalaci AIGLX dostal do slibneho stavu. Momentalne jsem ale ve stavu, kdy me X nechce nastartovat, protoze nemuze nacist modul fglrx (a nakonec hlasi no screens found). PO urcitem badani jse zjistil, ze to bude tim, ze fglrx ocekava verzi X.org 6.8, kdezto ja mam aktualni 7.1.1.1.

Jak mam tedy prinutit fglrx, aby bylo funkcni s 7.1.1.1? Rozhodne se mi nechce prekopavat cely system a vracet se ke staremu X.orgu… Prikladam relevantni cast Xorg.0.log

Ne, pouzivam Fedora Core 5 s jadrem 2.6.17-1.2174

Kazdopadne ten problem jsem jiz vyresil. Jinak ty repozitare (kmod-fglrx a xorg-x11…) byly z livna. Zkusil jsem je znova odstranit (yum remove…) a znova pridat - postupoval jsem podle navodu z fedorafaq (btw co se s temi strankami stalo, nejsou dostupne?). A kdyz to nepomohlo, zkusil jsem jeste z beznadeje znovu nainstalovat ovladace 8.28 z ati.com. No a rozbehlo se.

Cili X uz bezi. Zdaji se mi sice trochu rychlejsi, ale AIGLX stale nefunguje. Na prikaz fglrxinfo mi napise:

Nejake rady, jak zprovoznit to kyzene GLX? Zatim jediny pozitivni efekt v dusledku hrani si s GLX u me byl ten, ze me zacaly fungovat systemove zvuky v Gnome (driv fungovaly vsechny, krome systemovych jako prihlaseni a odhlaseni atd…). Ale to je spis vedlejsim efektem…

Co je s fedorafaq netusim, asi docasne nedostupne. Lepsi mate ale asi pouzivat http://wiki.fedora.cz/doku.php?id=navody:fc5prirucka o kterou se stareme mi a snazime se aby informace tam byly skutecne ty spravne.

Pokud mate Radeon 9200 nemusite fglrx vubec pouzivat, ale zustante u puvodniho ovladace radeon. Zamente Driver “fglrx” za Driver “radeon”.
Ovladac radeon z x.org ma jiz podporu i pro 3D akceleraci a vykonove je na tom podobne jako fglrx. Proc nejde akcelerace s fglrx to netusim. Nekoukal jste do /var/log/Xorg.0.log po radcich s “dri”? Melo by tam byt napsano proc nefunguje.

AIGLX vam bude fungovat pravdepodobe pouze s ovladacem radeon. Section extension composite mate spravne. AIGLX se da vybrat v jakemsi silenem menu, ktere ted z hlavy nevylovim nebo musite spustit composition manager. Kazdopadne musite pouzivat gnome+metacity (defaultni instalace) a po spusteni a prihlaseni zadat
gconftool-2 -s ‘/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager’ --type bool true

cimz aktivujete composition manager. To vse vsak samozjreme az potom co vam bude fungovat DRI.

Tak jsem zmenil na radeon a glxgears ukazuji okolo 1570 fps. Ale to je asi tak vse. Kouknul jsem do logu. O DRI tam nejake hezke veci Fedora pise. Dam to tedy sem. Vymazal jsem z toho ty info o rozliseni, aby to nebylo tak dlouhe:

UPDATE: Abych nezapomel - mam scriptik, ktery provede prave gconftool-2 -s ‘/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager’ --type bool true pouhym stisknutim praveho tlacitka mysi (nasel jsem ho na strankach fedory). Po aktivaci vsak vsechno parkrat zablika a vsem oknum zmizi okraje a titulky, takze je nejde presouvat, zavirat “krizkem” atd. Jak jsem si domyslel z nekolika diskuzi po internetu, dela to proto, protoze jednoduse receno ty casti maji byt pruhledne a proto je standartne nejde editovat (ve volbe motivu ta moznost ma zmizet). Avsak vzhledem k tomu, ze mi GLX nefunguje (resp. nefunguje spravne), udela to tohle…

Stejne to moc kratke neni. Kazdopadne podle logu vam v tuto chvili funguje akcelerace (1750fps tomu i odpovida) a nainicializuje se AIGLX.

pokud vam AIGLX ani ted nefunguje tak netusim kde je problem, ovladacem fglrx to ale urcite nevyresite. Pouzivate skutecne gnome a metacity? Zkousel jste po tom “gconftool-2” restartovat Xka?

Gnome samozrejme pouzivam. Zkousel jsem to s puvodnim nastavenim (dokonce i s clearlooks - ted pouzivam motiv pro metacity LiNsTa ci jak se to pise…). Jak jinak jako zjistim, ze pouzivam metacity? V tomto se priznam zrovna moc nevyznam.

K gconftool-2 - kdyz to zapnu, zmizi mi okraje oken a Gnome tak nejde pouzivat. Zkousel jsem nejenom restartovat X, zkousel jsem restartovat cele PC a pak se prihlasit jako root. Ale chova se to stale stejne.

A pak nechapu v tom logu, co znamena:

Pokud nevite jak se windows manager meni, pak jste ho pravdepodobe nemenil a pouzivate Metacity (ps ax | grep -i metacity by mohlo neco napovedet).

(WW) znamena warning ale neni to zadna fatalni chyba. AIGLX tim zrejme rika ze karta neco nepodporuje ale tyka se to jen barevne palety.
kmod-fglrx vadit nebude, ale mohl by vadit ten druhy balik xorg-x11-drv-fglrx, je totiz mozne ze tam mate binarni narhadu opengl od ati. Z logu to tak ale nevypada… kazdopadne bych odstranil oba. Bude o moznou komplikaci min.
Druhy kernel nevadi, pokud jste tedy instaloval kmod pro spravny kernel.

To ze to pise direct rendering: No je divne, na druhou stranu AIGLX je indirect accelerated rendering, takze mozna to je spravne. Bohuzel moje zkusenosti v tomto smeru jsou minimalni, protoze nemam zadny HW na kterem bych to vyzkousel a AIGLX jsem v akci nikdy nevidel.

Tak jsem zkousel rozchodit to AIGLX na Ati radeon 9200, akcelerace atd mi s driverem radeon funguje OK, podle navodu z fedoraproject.org jsem nainstaloval AIGLX doplnky do Xorg (k memu prekvapeni AIGLX neni primo v FC5) a zapnul composition manager v metacity. Vysledek je ten ze obrazovka parkrat zablika, prepina se mezi modrou obrazovkou na ktere jsou pouze stiny a mezi normalnim obrazem, pak metacity umre a bud zustanou na obrazovce jen stiny nebo jen okna bez window managera. Takze zadna slava.

Me zase zablika a prijdu o okraje vsech oken a vsechna se pak zarovnavaji k levemu hornimu rohu. Zkousel jsem puvodne jeste liveCD Kororaa, ktere slouzi jako demo pro Xgl, ale to se mi take nepodarilo rozchodit. Asi to bude opravdu grafikou. Sice se mluvi o tom, ze je 9200 podporovana, ale evidentne to neni pravda… Ja jsem na internetu nenasel nikoho, komu by to cele fungovalo s touto GK.

Uz jsem mel, priznam se k tomu, i krizi a premyslel jsem o prechodu k Ubuntu, ale nakonec jsem se premohl a rekl jsem si, ze by to bylo priznani porazky a “zrada”. Holt pockam na FC6, ktera by mela, jak doufam, uz mit AIGLX vcelku slusne integrovane a pohodlne prepinatelne…

Jo a jeste neco - zkousel jsem podle navodu misto AIGLX na Fedore rozchodit Xgl, ale dostal jsem se do stejneho stavu. To same, kdyz jsem chtel rozchodit Compiz na AIGLX…

Jak to tak vypada, moje pristi graficka karta bude nVidia. A to jsem mel vzdycky jenom ATI…
